With a strong academic and professional background in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, and emerging technologies.
Tharaka brings together extensive experience in higher education, academic leadership, technology, and professional development.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science, specializing in Data Science, Analytics and Engineering, from the University of Moratuwa one of Sri Lanka’s leading universities and a Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng (Hons)) in Software Engineering from Staffordshire University-United Kingdom .
Tharaka has almost 10 years of experience in higher education, progressing from Assistant Lecturer to senior academic and departmental leadership roles, with expertise in academic management, curriculum development, teaching, research, assessment, quality assurance, and professional technology education. He founded CAT INSTITUTE with a vision of creating a globally recognized technology education and professional certification institution that bridges academic knowledge with industry needs and prepares industry-ready professionals for the digital future. His philosophy is that technology education must continuously evolve with technology itself.
